Junior DevOps Engineers (Halcyon IoT Solutions Team)

Due to our continued growth and expansion we are seeking two efficient DevOps Engineers to join our IoT Solutions Team. Reporting to the DevOps Team Leader, the successful applicants will assist with the delivery of intelligent lighting and IoT Solutions through the company’s flagship wireless technology: Halcyon and cloud-based building management system: cloudBMS.

Role and Key Responsibilities:

Develop and support production releases of new features and products for our IoT and cloud products. 

Ability to liaise with the development team and see software product lifecycles to end of life.

Participate in evolving our build, deployment, and release management practices towards a continuous integration/continuous deployment model.

Troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Maintain production repositories and production programming scripts.

Required Skills:

·        Minimum of 3 years commercial experience.

·        Computer science degree or related technical experience is preferred.

·        Good working knowledge of Python.

·        Good knowledge of Linux systems and networking protocols is desirable.

·        Experience of Cloud based systems is desirable.

·        Experience in migration of development code to deployment.

·        Ability to test systems to ensure stability, interoperability and monitor system level stability.

·        Understanding of wireless communications.

·        Good communication skills, with an ability to express and understand complex technical concepts to both other team members and clients.

·        Willingness to learn.


Hours and Location:


40 Hours a week (usually Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends)

Role based out of the Romsey head office. £25k-35k. Salary negotiable depending on experience

Software Engineers (Senior & Junior)

We are seeking candidates for the roles of Senior and Junior Software Engineers to work on our Halcyon technology in the API team in Romsey. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the successful applicant will work in a multi-disciplinary team to continue the Halcyon API for our embedded systems.

Role and Key Responsibilities

·Help to evolve and expand functionality of the Halcyon API.

·Contribute to product visual design, UI design, and UX design

·Maintain familiarity with current and emerging technologies.

·Contribute to team best practices for code structure, testing automation and continuous integration

·Design and implement new product functionality using existing and new APIs

·Design and implement new web features as required to customer brief

·Support third party integration efforts


Required Skills

We are looking for highly technical candidates with a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent/higher qualification) in Engineering (or similar subject), who has extensive experience writing and developing APIs and working with HTML, PHP, Python, LINUX and similar programming language and coding software.


The candidate should have:

·At least 3 years of software development experience in PHP, C/C++ and python.

·At least 3 years of experience building embedded linux applications, databases and web servers.

·Proficient in Linux OS, particularly shell scripting and package management.

·Experience with web services, network programming and connectivity protocols including familiarity with TCP, UDP and RESTful/JSON APIs.

·Familiarity with source control systems (SVN, git, etc) and product lifecycles.

·Strong technical, analytical and troubleshooting skills

·Strong customer focus and solid communication skills

·The ability to work independently to strict deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic, team environments

·App (Android/iOS) and Javascript development experience is desirable.

·Preferably a background in consumer electronics i.e. developing software for WIFI routers


Candidates must hold a full UK driving licence.

40 Hours a week (usually Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends)

Based primarily in Romsey, Hampshire.

Salary dependant on experience in role (£25-£50k) plus performance related bonus and benefits package.

Field Delivery Engineers (Electrical)

We are seeking candidates to join our IoT team as field delivery engineers to evaluate, install and support sites adopting our Halcyon and CloudBMS technologies.  Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager the successful applicants will work in a multi-disciplinary team to provide and configure the on sit

Role and Key Responsibilities

  • Perform, or provide technical support to sales staff for, site surveys inclduing electrical evluation & wireless range testing.
  • Installation, test and fault finding of wireless devices to monitor/control water tanks and water supplies, lighting, HVAC, utility supplies as well as installing environmental sensors.
  • On site electrical support to remote commissioning engineers.

Successful candidate:

  • Electrically qualified with at least two years experience of field delivery of similar technologies.
  • A strong knowledge of wireless technology would be preferred.
  • Excellent time management and reporting skills are critical.
  • Knowledge of emergency lighting would be an advantage to applicants.
  • Experience using online project managent systems is a benefit.
  • Candidates must hold a full UK driving licence.

Hours and Location

40 Hours a week (usually Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends and evenings)

Travelling role with 80% of time spent on customer sites within the UK. Salary – competitive and depending on experience plus performance related bonus and share options and competitive benefits package.
